Switzerland Trip Itinerary
16th - 27th April 1981
Thursday 16th April 1981
Manx Youth Band party assemble at the Sea Terminal at 8.15a.m. before boarding Steam Packet
ferry for Liverpool. On arrival at Liverpool load coach before departing for Hull for the
6.00p.m. sailing to Europort, Rotterdam. Five course meal available between 6.30p.m. - 9.00p.m..
Overnight accommodation on the ferry is in couchettes.
Friday 17th April 1981
Breakfast served 6.30a.m. - 7.45a.m. on board ferry before arriving at Europort, Rotterdam at
8.00a.m. After disembarking and clearing customs, the coach will depart for Berne, Switzerland
travelling through Holland and West Germany. The coach will stop soon after we have entered West
Germany for lunch (advisable to bring some German marks to purchase lunch). The coach should
arrive in Berne between 6.00p.m. - 7.00p.m.. Accommodation has been reserved in a Youth Hostel
in Berne, with evening meal booked for when we arrive.
Saturday 18th April 1981
Sight seeing trip by coach (destination to be confirmed). Probable band rehearsal during the
day.
Sunday 19th April 1981
In conjunction with the Swiss Tourist Board - Berne office, it has been arranged for the Band
to perform aboard one of the sight seeing boats sailing on Lake Thun. The boat leaves Thun at
9.20a.m. and sails around the lake arriving at Interlaken mid-afternoon. Evening meal back at
the Youth Hostel
Monday 20th April 1981
Sight seeing trip by coach with possible concert in the evening (details to be confirmed).
Tuesday 21st April 1981
Sight seeing and shopping in Berne.
Wednesday 22nd April 1981
Sight seeing trip (destination to be decided) ending up at the Omega watch factory in Bienne at
4.00p.m. where the party will be welcomed by members of the Omega Brass Band. Joint concert with
the Omega Band followed by refreshments before returning to Berne.
Thursday 23rd April 1981
Sight seeing tour by coach followed by possible concert in the evening (details to be
confirmed).
Friday 24th April 1981
Sight seeing tour by coach (destination to be decided).
Saturday 25th April 1981
After breakfast at 7.00a.m. the coach will depart Berne for the return trip to Rotterdam,
Holland via West Germany. Depart Europort, Rotterdam at 6.00p.m. for overnight sailing to Hull.
Dinner will be served on board between 6.30p.m. and 9.00p.m.
Sunday 26th April 1981
Breakfast will be served on the ferry between 6.30a.m. and 7.45a.m. before arriving at the King
George Dock, Hull at 8.00a.m. After clearing customs depart for a day trip (destination to be
decided) before arriving in Liverpool at 6.00p.m. All instruments and luggage will be loaded
aboard the IOM Steam Packet Co. ferry before the party go for evening meal at a restaurant near
the Pier Head at 7.30p.m.
Monday 27th April 1981
It has been arranged with the IOM Steam Packet Co. onboard the ferry between 8.00a.m. and 8.30a.m. before the ferry departs for the Isle of Man at 11.00a.m.

Whilst in Berne breakfasts are booked at the hostel and evening meals will either be at the
hostel or otherwise, depending on activities, concerts etc.
Youth Hostel doors close at 10.00p.m.
A copy of the Hostel Rules is provided. It is important that you read them and adhere to them at
all times.
Those who are on the collective passport will be given their identity card at a later date, and
it is important that you carry it with you at all times whilst travelling through Holland,
Germany and during your stay in Switzerland.
Throughout the tour you will be expected to provide for your own midday refreshments.
